
A hike to remember - adventures on the trail
The female falls had gentler slopes, though quite slippery. We scaled the first rock using a rope hanging from the base of the second slope. It was an exciting activity. Our very own mini rock climbing
without a harness. Kind of like what is known in the mountain climbing world as ‘free solo’. If Alex Honnold hears me compare this small stint with his record breaking one he will feel very insulted. lol. Anyway, back to female Adom falls. Each of us hauled ourselves quite easily to the first landing. Between the top of the first rock and the base of the second there was a pool of water. Fortunately it was not very deep so we took turns to wade through and climbed the slippery slope to the top. There was another pool of water and the water falling from the top was more voluminous. The spray from the water was refreshing, considering how searing the heat was. None of us could resist the urge to wash our faces with the cool water.
After about an hour of enjoying the water and taking photos we made our way back up to the clearing. While we relaxed and thought of what to do next a group of hikers exited from the bushes. They had hiked from Dodowa through another falls called Chenku and then scaled a mountain and hiked to Adam falls. Yes, your thoughts are right, we decided to visit Chenku falls. The guide who came with the group was too tired to go back. We almost gave up on the idea. But after a while we decided that we would venture out on our own, why not? It was all part of the adventure. Eventually we got our young lad, the one who took us down the Adom falls, to take us. So, off we went, into the forest. To be cont…
